Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doorsis the nation's first evidence-based parent leadership training program for Latino parents with children ages 0-5. It gives families information on a variety of traditional parenting topics, like discipline and communication, along with things like nutrition, cultural values, getting involved in your child's education, and parent advocacy.
Arts Enrichmentis a 10-week parent/child participation class that models a similar class schedule to Kindergarten. Here, children learn how to transition from one activity to the next, how to participate in circle time, and of course plenty of time for free play, songs, movement, stories and art. A majority of our classes are led by trained volunteers. This class is an introductory class for new families only.
Play and Learn is the same content and format as Arts Enrichment, but it is for continuing families so that the children may continue to get exposure to critical school readiness skills. Classes regularly available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese.
SEEDS of Early Literacy stands for Sensitive, Encourage, Educate, Develop through Doing, and Self-Image). It's a program that teaches parents how to expand a child's vocabulary and build a lifetime love of reading. 5 Sessions.
Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) backed by over 30 years of clinically proven, world wide research, gives parents critical information on helping their children build resiliency and confidence. Three sessions. Please see www.triplep.net for more information.
24:7 Dad Parenting program designed for any male caregiver in a child’s life.
Baby Care group activity class where parent and caregivers interact with their infants to help stimulate their senses and develop their pre-speech skills.

5 Keys to Raising a Healthy, Happy Eater is a parenting class that talks about the feeding relationship. It offers suggestions for dealing with questions such as: How to you get kids to eat more veggies? What if they eat too much or too little? How can I change picky eating habits?
Community Gardening - We have two community gardens, one at Mercy Street and one at New World CDC (our Sunnyvale/Cupertino partner). We regularly offer planting/harvesting parties and education for children and families about where food comes from, and the value of fresh healthy food
Family oriented events- Join us at one of our FRCs for special events for the whole family, such as Dental Wellness Day (with free dental screenings and education), Families Move Together (a family fitness event), and our annual Halloween Party.
Family Stress-busters: Parents learn cutting edge information about how stress management helps the whole family to have less conflict and more fun together. Uses the latest in neuroscience to help us understand how to work with our own stress and support children as they learn to self-regulate.
Field trips - Join us on an adventure to local kid friendly places, like Rancho San Antonio, Happy Hollow Farm, Children's Discovery Museum, Pumpkin Patches, and anything our families come up with.
Hindi Story-time (and/or Hindi Play and Learn): the play and learn class runs in Hindi and features stories, songs and art from India. Non Hindi speakers are welcome.
I'm Ready for Kindergarten - Children ages 3-5 learn critical skills for Kindergarten readiness, including self-regulation, academics, social-emotional skills and more, while parents learn how to support their development outside the classroom.
Music and Movement - Parents and Kids learn about instruments and music, and move together.
Outdoor Play - Kids get outside with their parents and enjoy the park with lots of movement and activities for little ones.
Play and Learn Around the World is our evidence based Arts/Enrichment/Play and Learn format set in the context of multicultural learning. Volunteers share stories, songs, and an art project centered around their own culture.
Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ). Developmental screening that helps parents learn what to expect in different stages of their child's development. Measures Fine/Gross Motor, Communication, Problem Solving, and Social-Emotional capacities.
Community Worker Services - Families receive direct support from Community Workers who can consult with them about their child's development, using the ASQ screening tool and Triple P level 3 consultation. They will also provide resources and referrals as needed.
Kid Connections services - Families who have concerns about their child's development, and who currently subscribe to Medi-Cal, can seek a referral to Kid Connections for additional professional screenings, free of charge. Available through our collaboration with FIRST 5, its partners, and the County Department of Mental Health.
Medi-Cal Application Assistance - We offer weekly assistance on Tuesdays and other days by appointment. We help people who need to apply, for subscriptions that have lapsed, or those who simply have questions. Service is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Mandarin.
Sensitivity Screenings - If your child seems unusually sensitive to the environment (noise, movement, smells, foods, tags on clothing), we can offer a screening to help you understand these sensitivities and give you some tools and resources to help your child be more comfortable.
